Component Controls
BI Viewer
  • Tab and Shift + Tab keys navigate between the following elements in the Dashboard layout:

  • When you select a dashboard item, press Enter to switch to interactive mode. This mode allows you to navigate within the item.

  • In interactive mode, you can use the Tab and Shift + Tab keys to navigate through the title elements and the dashboard element’s content.

  • A user can use the following keys to interact with the Document Viewer component:

  • Tab (Shift+Tab) navigates between dashboard layout elements. In Interactive mode, navigates within a dashboard item.

  • Enter switches to Interactive mode when the focus is on a dashboard item and expands or collapses a panel when a button is selected in the Tab panel.

  • Esc or Escape exits Interactive mode.

Book Viewer
  • Tab moves the focus to the next active element.

  • Shift + Tab moves the focus to the preceding active element.

  • Enter clicks the focused element.

  • Right arrow moves the paging control to the next page.

  • Left arrow moves the paging control to the previous page.

  • Up arrow moves the document up.

  • Down arrow moves the document down.

Button
  • Space clicks the focused button.

  • Enter clicks the focused button.

Chart (Waterfall)
  • Left arrow moves the focus to the left point in the series.

  • Right arrow moves the focus to the right point in the series.

  • Up arrow moves the focus according to the database order. Pressing the Up arrow key navigates through items based on their order in the database.

  • Down arrow moves the focus according to the database order. Pressing the Down arrow key navigates through items based on their order in the database.

Checkbox
  • Space clicks the focused check box.

  • Enter clicks the focused check box.

Combo Box
  • Alt + Down opens the popup element when the component is focused.

  • Alt + Up closes the popup element if it is open.

  • Esc or Escape closes the popup element if it is open.

  • Up arrow moves the focus to the previous item in the list.

  • Down arrow moves the focus to the next item in the list.

  • Home moves the focus to the first item in the list.

  • End moves the focus to the last item in the list.

  • Enter selects the currently focused item (for example, if you are filtering by typing this would be the first item that matches the filter).

Cube View

Tab:

  • When the focus is in the toolbar, pressing the Tab key moves the focus to the next active element in the toolbar.

  • When the focus is on the active last element in the toolbar, pressing the Tab key will move the focus to the search field.

  • When the focus is in the search field, pressing the Tab key will move the focus to the next search field if one is available.

  • When the focus is on the last search field, pressing the Tab key will move the focus into the expansion controls if available.

  • When the focus is in the expansion controls, pressing the Tab key will move the focus to the next expansion control.

  • When the focus is on the last expansion control, pressing the Tab key will move the focus to the first cell in the grid.

  • When the focus is in the grid, pressing the Tab key will move to focus one cell to the right.

  • When the focus is in the last cell in a row, pressing the Tab key will move the focus to the first cell in the row below.

Shift + Tab key:

  • When the focus is in the first active element in the toolbar, pressing the Shift + Tab key moves the focus to the breadcrumb menu.

  • When the focus is in the toolbar, pressing the Shift + Tab key moves the focus to the previous active element in the toolbar.

  • When the focus in in the search field, pressing the Shift +Tab key moves the focus to the previous search field.

  • When the focus is in the first search field, pressing the Shift + Tab key moves the focus to the last active element in the toolbar.

  • When the focus is in the expansion controls, pressing the Shift + Tab key moves to the focus to the previous expansion control.

  • When the focus is in the first expansion control, pressing the Shift + Tab key moves the focus to the last search field.

Shift + Tab or Shift + Right arrow:
  • When the focus is a cell in the grid, pressing Shift + Tab key or Shift + Right Arrow moves the focus the next cell in the row and adds the existing cell to the current selection.

Shift + Backspace:

  • When the focus is in a selected cell in the grid, pressing the Shift + Backspace key deselects the current in focus cell from a group of selected cells, and the focus remains on the current cell.

Right arrow:

  • When the focus is in a cell in the grid, pressing the Right arrow moves the focus to the next cell to the right in the row or if the focus is on the last cell in a row pressing the Right arrow moves the focus the first cell in the row below.

  • When the focus is in an expansion control, pressing the Right arrow expands the children rows.

Left arrow:

  • When the focus is in a cell in the grid, pressing the Left arrow moves the focus to the previous cell to the left in the row or if the focus is on the first cell in a row pressing the Left arrow moves the focus the last cell in the row above.

  • When the focus is in an expansion control, pressing the Left arrow collapses the children rows.

Up arrow:

  • When the focus is in a cell in the grid, pressing the Up arrow moves the focus to the cell above the selected cell.

Down arrow:

  • When the focus is in a cell in the grid, pressing the Down arrow moves the focus to the cell below the selected cell.

Home key:

  • When the focus is in a cell in the grid, pressing the Home key moves the focus to the first cell in the current row.

End key:

  • When the focus is in a cell in the grid, pressing the End key moves the focus to last cell in the current row.

Enter:

  • When the focus is in a cell in the grid, pressing the Enter key moves the focus to the cell below the currently selected cell.

  • Then the focus is on an icon on the tool bar, pressing the Enter key activates that feature. (Context Menu, Save, Undo, Parameter Refresh and Refresh)

  • When the focus is in a search field above a column, after inputting a value pressing the Enter key will activate the search and place the focus in the first cell of a matching row.

Shift + F10:

  • From anywhere on the screen, pressing Shift + F10 will open the context menu that is on the tool bar.

Menu key:

  • When then focus is in a cell, pressing the Menu key will open the context menu for the selected cell.

F2:

  • When the focus is in a cell, pressing the F2 key enables edit mode if available for the selected cell.

F4:

  • When the focus is in the toolbar, search field or expansion controls pressing the F4 key moves the focus to the first cell in the grid.

  • When the focus is in the grid, pressing the F4 key moves the focus out of the grid and places the focus onto the first active element in the toolbar.

Esc or Escape:

  • When the focus is in a cell in edit mode, pressing the Esc key exits edit mode for the selected cell.

  • When the focus is in the open context menu, pressing the Esc key closes the context menu.

  • When the focus is in the Cell context menu, pressing the Esc key closes the cell context menu.

Page Up:

  • If the grid has multiple rows pressing the Page up key will move the page up one page at a time

  • If the grid has all of the visible rows on one page, pressing the Page up key will move the focus to the top row.

Page Down:

  • If the grid has multiple rows pressing the Page Down key will move the page down one page at a time

  • If the grid has all of the visible rows on one page, pressing the Page Down key will move the focus to the last row.

NOTE: When NVDA Speech Viewer is running, grids open in Browse Mode by default, which prevents arrow key navigation inside workflow grid. To navigate with arrow keys, switch NVDA to Focus Mode by using NVDA + Space to toggle modes.

Data Explorer Report
  • Tab moves the focus to the next element.

  • Enter clicks the focused element.

  • Right arrow moves the paging control to the next page.

  • Left arrow moves the paging control to the previous page.

Date Selector (Date Input)
  • Alt + Down arrow opens the popup with the calendar.

  • Alt + Up arrow or Esc closes the popup with the calendar.

  • Up arrow increases the value of the date portion that contains the cursor. Takes the corresponding Step into account.

  • Down arrow decreases the value of the date portion that contains the cursor. Takes the corresponding Step into account.

  • Left arrow moves the cursor one position to the left.

  • Right arrow moves the cursor one position to the right.

  • Delete or Backspace deletes the current date portion that contains the cursor.

Date Selector (Calendar)
  • Down Arrow moves the focus to down cell, or navigates the view if currently focused date is in the last row of the current view period.

  • Up Arrow moves the focus to the upper cell, or navigates the view if currently focused date is at the top row of the current view period.

  • Left Arrow moves the focus to previous cell.

  • Right Arrow moves the focus to next cell.

  • Enter toggles the current date selection.

  • Ctrl + Up Arrow navigates to the upper view (for example., from current month days, to the year).

  • Ctrl + Down Arrow navigates to the lower view (for example, from the months in the year to the days of the month).

  • Ctrl + Right Arrow navigates to the next period.

  • Ctrl + Left Arrow navigates to the previous period.

  • Tab moves the focus between the different navigation elements - view selection, previous/next buttons, today button, and the grid with dates/months/years.

  • Shift + Tab moves backwards through the focusable elements.

  • Home focuses the first day of the month.

  • End focuses the last day of the month.

Dialog
  • Arrow Up / Arrow Down moves the focus between the drawer items.

  • Enter selects the focused page.

File Viewer
  • Tab moves the focus to the next element.

  • Enter clicks the focused element.

  • Right arrow moves the paging control to the next page.

  • Left arrow moves the paging control to the previous page.

Gantt View
  • Home moves focus to first task.

  • End moves the focus to the last task.

  • Up Arrow moves the focus to previous task.

  • Down Arrow moves the focus to next task.

  • Left Arrow scrolls the view to the left.

  • Right Arrow scrolls the view to the right.

  • Enter opens the popup edit form to provide editing of the task.

  • Delete the task gets deleted.

  • Alt/Opt(Mac) + Left Arrow the task is collapsed, if it contains child tasks.

  • Alt/Opt(Mac) + Right Arrow the task is expanded, if it contains child tasks.

Grid View
Image
  • Tab moves the focus to the next image.
  • Shift + Tab moves the focus to the preceding image

Label
  • Tab moves the focus to the next label.
  • Shift + Tab moves the focus to the preceding label.

Large Data Pivot Grid
Logo
  • Tab moves the focus to the next image.

  • Shift + Tab moves the focus to the preceding image.

Map
  • Tab moves the focus to the next element.

  • Shift + Tab moves the focus to the preceding element.

  • Enter clicks the focused element.

Menu
  • Enter opens a menu when the menu button has focus.

  • Up arrow moves the focus up to the next menu item.

  • Down arrow moves the focus down to the next menu item.

  • Esc or Escape closes the menu.

Pivot Grid
Radio Button Group
  • Arrow keys move the focus to the next option in the group.

Report
  • Tab moves the focus to the next element.

  • Enter clicks the focused element.

  • Right arrow moves the paging control to the next page.

  • Left arrow moves the paging control to the previous page.

Text Box
  • Tab moves the focus into and out of the text box.

Toast Notifications
  • F9 closes all notifications.

Tree View
  • Up arrow goes to the previous tree node.

  • Down arrow goes to the next tree node.

  • Right arrow expands a collapsed node. If the node is expanded, focus is moved to its first child node.

  • Left arrow collapses an expanded node. If the node is collapsed, focus is moved to its parent.

  • Home moves the focus to the first node in the tree without opening or closing a node.

  • End moves the focus to the last node in the tree that is focusable without opening a node.

  • Enter selects the focused tree view item when the selection mode is Single or Multiple. When the selection mode is Multiple and there are other selected items, they get deselected.

  • Ctrl + Enter selects focused item. When the item is already selected, it gets deselected.

  • Shift + Enter when Multiple selection is enabled, perform range selection from the previous selected item to the current selected item. Equivalent to Shift+Click.

SQL Table Editor

 

Grid Controls
Common Controls for Cube Views, Dynamic Grids, Grid Views and SQL Table Editor
  • Tab: Moves focus forward through available UI elements (toolbar/headers/search fields) and then into the grid. In the grid, moves one cell to the right. typically wrapping to the next row when at the row end.

  • Shift + Tab: Moves focus backward through UI elements; in the grid, move one cell to the left (behavior may vary by grid type).

  • Left/Right arrow: Navigates between cells within the grid. In menus, Left/Right collapses or expands sub-menus.

  • Up/Down arrow: Navigates between rows within the grid. In menus, Up/Down moves between items.

  • Enter: Activates the currently focused UI element; when focus is in the grid, often moves down a row or enters edit mode depending on grid type and context.

  • Home: Moves to the first cell in the current row.

  • End: Moves to the last cell in the current row.

  • F4: Toggles between the grid and the toolbar moving the focus into the first cell in the grid or out to the first active toolbar element.

  • Esc: Exits the active UI element (for example, exit edit mode or close an open menu).

  • To quickly move to the last cell in a grid when the focus is in any cell in the grid, press the End key to move to the end of the row. Press the Page Down key as many times as needed.

  • To quickly move to the to the first cell in a grid when the focus is in any cell in the grid, press the Home key to move to the first cell in the row and press the Page Up key as many times as needed or press the F4 key to move to the focus to the toolbar and press the F4 key a second time to move the focus to the first cell in the grid.

  • In a grid when the focus is in a cell that has a drop-down menu, pressing the Enter key places the cell in edit mode. The Space bar is used open the drop-down menu and the arrow keys are used to navigate up and down through the drop-down menu. Pressing the Tab key or Enter key while a drop-down menu item is in focus will select that item.

NOTE: When NVDA Speech Viewer is running, some grids open in Browse Mode by default, which prevents arrow key navigation inside the grid. To navigate with arrow keys, switch NVDA to Focus Mode using NVDA + Space to toggle modes.

Unique Controls for Cube Views
  • Right arrow (Expansion control): expands children.

  • Left arrow (Expansion control): collapses children when focus is in an expansion control.

  • Shift + Tab or Shift + Right arrow (Range selection): extends selection to the next cell in the row.

  • Shift + Left arrow (Range selection): extends selection to the previous cell.

  • Shift + Backspace (Range Selection): deselects the in-focus cell from a multi-cell selection.

  • Menu key (Context Menu): opens the context menu for the selected cell.

  • Shift + F10: opens the toolbar context menu from anywhere on the screen.

  • F2: enables edit mode (if available for the selected cell).

  • Esc: exits edit mode (if available for the selected cell).

  • Enter (Search fields): After inputting a value in a column search field, Enter activates search and places focus in the first cell of a matching row.

  • Page Up / Page Down: If multiple pages of rows exist, moves one page at a time; if all rows are visible on one page, moves focus to the top row (Page Up) or last row (Page Down).

Unique Controls for Grid Views
  • Enter (Column headers and column header menu): opens the column header menu when focus is on a column header. Within the menu, Tab/Shift+Tab moves between menu items; Enter activates a selection.

  • Right arrow (Context menu navigation): expands sub-menus.

  • Left arrow (Context menu navigation): collapses sub-menus.

  • Up/Down (Context menu navigation): moves between menu items.

Unique Controls for SQL Table Editor
  • Tab cycles through active toolbar elements; from the last toolbar icon, Tab moves to the first cell in the grid.

  • Enter: In a cell while adding a row, Enter enables edit mode.

  • Tab: In a cell while adding a row, Tab saves the current value, exits edit mode, and moves to the next cell to the right.

Unique Controls for Dynamic Grids
  • Tab: cycles through active toolbar elements; from the last toolbar icon, Tab moves to the first cell in the grid.

  • Enter: opens the column header menu from a column header.

  • Tab/Shift+Tab: within the column header menu, moves between menu items and Enter activates a selection.

  • Enter: In a cell while adding a row, Enter enables edit mode.
  • Tab: In a cell while adding a row, Tab saves the current value, exits edit mode, and moves to the next cell to the right.

Unique Controls for Workflow Grid, File Explorer Grid and Task Activity Grid
  • Up or Down (Tree view): moves between tree items.

  • Left arrow: collapses tree items.

  • Right arrow: expands tree items.

  • Enter: When focus is in a column header, Enter sorts ascending on first press and descending on second press.

  • Enter (Column ellipses menu): opens the menu, expands/collapses sections (Columns, Filter, Set Column position). In a filter drop-down menu, Enter expands the list.

    Up/Down (Column ellipses menu): moves between menu items. In a filter drop-down menu, Up/Down changes the selected item.

  • Alt + Down arrow (Open column ellipse menu from header): opens the column ellipses menu.

  • Space (Columns section checkboxes): selects or deselects the focused checkbox.

  • Enter (Context menu icon): opens the context menu. Inside the menu, Enter selects an item.

  • Up/Down (Context menu icon): inside the menu, Up/Down moves between items.

  • Shift + ALT+ B (Workflow Grid only): moves to the Breadcrumb menu in the upper left hand corner of the screen.

  • Shift + ALT+ W (Workflow Grid only): moves to the first active Workflow state buttons in the upper right hand corner of the screen.

NOTE: Page Up / Page Down do not work in these grids.

 

Pivot Grid Controls
Toolbar
  • Tab moves to the next active option in the toolbar. If no active elements present, it moves to the next active element in the browser page.
  • Shift + Tab moves to the previous active option in the toolbar. If no active elements present, it moves to the previous active element in the browser page.

  • Enter performs the selection operation of the current active element.

Field List
  • Tab moves to the next active UI element.

  • Shift + Tab moves to the previous UI element.

  • Enter selects or deselects a field in the All fields section.

  • Down arrow moves down in the filter selection section.

  • Up arrow moves up in the filter selection section.

  • Space selects or deselects a field in the All fields section.

Filter Dialog
  • Tab moves forward through filters. Activates the OK and Cancel buttons.

  • Shift + Tab moves backwards through filters. Activates the OK and Cancel buttons.

  • Down arrow moves to the UI element below.

  • Up arrow moves to the UI element above.

  • Enter selects or deselects a filter. Activates the OK and Cancel buttons.

  • Space selects or deselects a filter. Activates the OK and Cancel buttons.

Drill-Through Dialog
  • Tab moves to the next active element in the drill-through dialog. If the current active element is a Grid cell, it moves the cell focus to right side.

  • Shift + Tab moves to the previous active element in the drill-through dialog. If the current active element is a Grid cell, it moves the cell focus to left side.

  • Down arrow moves the row/cell focus downward.

  • Up arrow moves the row/cell focus upward.

  • Left arrow moves the cell focus to the left side.

  • Right arrow moves the cell focus to the right side.

  • End moves to the bottom of the drill down section.

  • Ctrl + Home scrolls up.

  • Ctrl + End scrolls down.
